The Enemy Within (2e)
81 yr old Female Dwarven Sergeant, loves ale, spicy food and hates the dark, confined spaces and god damned elves
Your family was out of place in Karak Hirn, as your parents were anti-monarchists, and they emigrated to the empire when you were quite young. As a child you were quite bright, and your parents expected you to enter the engineers’ school at Nuln alongside your brother. The fact that you weren’t interested in this made you the black sheep of the family; your brother was apprenticed to Olbin, and your sister married young to another engineer. Only hurt the ones you love (?, proposed to you, but you turned him down to attempt to regain your family’s honour through battle, you now wish you could say you were sorry. Realised you loved him after finding out he died seven years ago, and you can’t let go) You spent 9 months in prison. You were almost killed 12 years ago in a ruined temple near Nuln. You’re very fond of your uncle (Olbin), although he is rumoured to have dealings with smugglers. The only way you feel you can regain your family’s honour is by finding the lost heirloom weapon after you were manipulated by a lover into betraying your family. A revolutionary at heart, you don’t believe in class distinctions amongst dwarves – especially the idea of royal dwarven clans. Conversely, you approve of the job Karl Franz has done in funding technological improvements within the empire, and worry that he may be the target of a vast conspiracy to prevent further advances. You have a particular distrust of lawyers – a dwarf’s word is her bond, why should contracts be needed? You hate arsonists, and dislike rural peasants. You think that the humans’ use of magic is what attracts the chaos hordes to their lands. You overuse colourful language. You have bad memories of a nearby coaching inn, and your sleep has been haunted by a recurring dream. You crossed the other PCs’ path when they last came by the signal tower, but they don’t remember you. You’re liberal (for a dwarf), feisty, righteous (end justifies the means), and stubborn. You are picky with your drinks, always insisting on Bugman’s Ale if available, or the best liquor otherwise. You are uneasy and inexperienced with the opposite sex, but get flirty when drunk. You have a soft spot for children of every race. You are compulsively honest, practically incapable of lying.
